Tracking and Navigation

Tracking for this race will be done by “Track Leaders” via Spot Tracker. You will be responsible for your own navigation whether that be by map, by app or by GPS watch. I recommend using the RideWithGPS app for simplicity purposes since that is the app that I created the course map with. However, if you want to download the GPX file I will make it available on this website for you to download or you can download it on the course map website yourself (you might have to have a paid subscription for this).

I recommend you download the app, map and or GPX file and get really familiar with its use as soon as you finish reading this section. This will be as important a part of your training and preparation for this event as the actual running itself. With the tight cutoffs of this race you will want to minimize the number of times you get lost or off track. Make it your homework to study the course map every night until race day, to make sure you are as familiar as you possibly can be with the course. Also, I created a 2,200 word Crew and Runner Guide that goes into great detail explaining very useful information about key points in the race and what to expect in terms of crew access spots, convenience stores, gas stations, aid and bathrooms. Please study this thoroughly as well, as it will definitely help you and your crew navigate this race. Although I strongly recommended crew for this race, I lay out in the guide how this race could be done completely solo, even without my mobile aid and even in the rural sections, if you are the right person.
